Putting In Time

Now that the new issue of the Gypsy Journal is at the printers and the digital edition has been sent out to all of our subscribers, we’re just putting in time waiting for the printed issue to get shipped back to us. But that’s okay, sometimes it’s nice not to have anything on our schedule for a while.

We originally planned to leave the Seaside Thousand Trails on October 13 to go to Whalers Rest in Newport. As it turns out, the new issue of the paper won’t get to Astoria until October 14. Assuming it gets there on time; last issue it seemed to have gotten lost in transit for a few days and we had to cool our heels until they could find it. Either way, driving all the way back up here from Newport would not work. So it’s time for plan B. (Always have a plan B!)

We booked in for three weeks here at Seaside, but with our Thousand Trails membership, twice a year we can buy an extra week for just $29. So I’ll call member services, cancel the first week of our Newport reservation, and extend here for a week. That should give us plenty of time to get the new issue, get all the envelopes stuffed, and get them mailed out. And if you have to cool your heels, a 50 amp full hookup RV site in a nice campground a mile from the beach and the Pacific Ocean is a good place to do it!

In the meantime, I’ve got a new book to finish and Terry has a weaving project to get on her loom. We also want to take a day trip down to Tillamook, about 50 miles south of us. We’ve toured the Tillamook Cheese Factory a couple of times so I’m not sure if we’ll stop there again.

But we want to go back to the Latimer Quilt & Textile Center. We went there a few years ago, before Terry had her loom, but now that she’s an experienced weaver I think she would get more out of another visit. And who knows? If the weather cooperates and the wind blows, we may get some kite flying done, too!

We already have 100 entries in our latest Free Drawing. And with a prize like this week’s, I’m not surprised. Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR audiobooks from my friend Carol Ann Newsome! That’s right, Carol has donated a complete set of all four books in her popular Dog Park mystery series. How cool is that? To enter, all you have to do is click on this Free Drawing link or the tab at the top of this page and enter your name in the comments section at the bottom of that page (not this one). Only one entry per person per drawing please, and you must enter with your real name. To prevent spam or multiple entries, the names of cartoon or movie characters are not allowed. The winner will be drawn Sunday evening.

If you like thrillers with a Southwestern flavor, check out Spectre Black, the new Cyril Landry thriller by J. Carson Black. It’s a great series by a fine author whose work I enjoy.

Thought For The Day – Lazy is a strong word. I prefer to call it selective participation.
